New Delhi: Ever since US President Donald Trump imposed 50 percent tariff on India, America has also come under the target of Indians. Now it is believed that Indians can boycott many big brands of America. These include McDonald's, Coca-Cola, Amazon, Apple etc. If this happens, then these American brands may have to face difficulties.
According to the Times of India, ever since Trump imposed tariff on India, supporters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many big businessmen are angry. They are now talking about boycotting American goods. Since India is a big market for American companies. In such a situation, they may have to face big losses.
Most used in India
Many American brands and platforms are used a lot in India. Meta Company's WhatsApp application is most used in India. Domino's has the most number of outlets in India. Shops of American cold drink brands like Pepsi and Coca-Cola are seen everywhere in India. Apple stores and Starbucks outlets are also crowded with people.
Tariffs have worsened relations
Trump had imposed a 25 percent tariff on India last month. A few days ago, he increased the tariff by another 25 percent. Thus, a total of 50 percent tariff has been imposed on India. This has worsened the relations between India and America. After this, people have started talking about boycotting American goods on social media.
People have started saying that Indian-made goods should be used instead of American goods. According to a Reuters report, it is difficult to say right now how much this has affected the sales of American companies, but the talk of boycotting American goods is gaining momentum.
What are people saying?
Wow Skin Science co-founder Manish Chaudhary shared a video on LinkedIn. In this, he said that we should support the farmers and startups of India. He said that 'Made in India' products should be recognized in the world. He gave the example of South Korea, where food and beauty products are very famous. He further said, 'We have lined up for products coming from thousands of miles away. We have proudly spent money on brands that are not ours. While the manufacturers of our own country are struggling to get attention in their own country.'
Indian brands are struggling
Some Indian retail brands are competing with international brands like Starbucks, but they are still finding it difficult to make a mark globally.
